Sewing Techniques Module 3 – How to Use a Serger / An Overlocker

NOTE: You have to pass these courses before you can enroll this course.

An overlocker is also called a serger. This Beginners Guide to Serging teaches how to thread an overlocker, how to use an overlocker, overlocking seams, etc.  Learn how to use a serger including hand stitching an overlocked hem.

Basic Items Required for this Course:

  • Sewing Machine (any basic domestic electric sewing machine with at least 5 stitches.  A minimum of 12 stitches will be even better). Any brand works.
  • A Serger or an Overlocker
  • Basic Needlework Kit which must include hand needles
  • Roll of Thread / Threads
  • Box of Pins
  • Calico or any cotton fabric
  • Fabric Scissors
  • Measuring Tape
  • Seam Ripper

You can add to this list as you go along.  A quick google search will show what these items look like.
